SSF discounts for Nepalis abroad — how much can you save?

Paying ahead (10%), sending earnings home through a bank (20%), three claim-free years (20% moved to your pension) — the most the three SSF discounts can save you.

At least NPR 2596; up to three times that.

More than six (seven or more) at once earns the advance discount.

At least 70% of the year's income after living costs, through a bank or remittance company (not hundi) — you will need proof.

Each full three years can move up to 20% of the protection money to your pension.

The most each discount allows under the Fund's published rules. The Fund's board decides what is actually granted.

Of रू 2,596 a month, रू 910 is the protection part (accident, disability, family — not refundable) and रू 1,686 is your own old-age savings. The bank-remittance discount comes off the protection part only; the advance discount off what is due for the payment.

Paying 12 months now: रू 26,070 instead of रू 31,152 — up to रू 5,082 saved. The same plan every year saves up to रू 5,082 a year.

No claim for 3 years: on application, up to रू 5,244 of the protection money can move to your old-age savings — it grows there and comes back as pension.

What you can do next
  • Ask the Fund (WhatsApp/Viber 9851351754, migrantworker@ssf.gov.np) how each discount is being granted now, and what proof it wants.
  • Keep your bank or remittance receipts for the whole year — that is the proof for the 20%.
  • WTS SSF Saathi can set up the advance payment and the paperwork for you.
This answer assumes
  • The three concessions on the Fund's foreign-employment page, read 2026-09-28. Each is "up to" and granted by the Fund's board: the figures are the most, not a promise.
  • Split of 21.33%: 7.48 protection, the rest old-age savings. The remittance discount is taken off the protection part; the advance discount off the amount due after it.
  • The claim-free move counts each full three years once, on the protection money actually paid.
  • The contribution amount itself follows the minimum wage; check yours in the SSF app.

Questions people ask

Are these discounts automatic?

No. The rules say "up to" and that the Fund's board decides. Ask the Fund how it grants each one today.

What counts as proof for the 20%?

Records that at least 70% of the year's income, after living costs, came home through a bank or remittance company. Money sent by hundi does not count.

Is the three-year move a discount?

Not on what you pay. Part of the non-refundable protection money moves into your own old-age savings instead.

Do you keep what I type here?

No. The figures are used to work out the answer and are not stored, and never appear in the page address.

If you would like help with this

These WTS services relate to what you just worked out. Using the calculator does not sign you up for anything.

These are estimates. The figures depend entirely on the numbers you enter and on assumptions that are listed on every result. They are not financial advice, and a bank, employer or authority may use different rules. Check anything important with them before you decide.

We do not keep your figures. Salary, debt and savings you type here are used to work out the answer and are not stored, and never appear in the page address. The only thing remembered is your country and language choice (a small cookie), so the currency can be suggested next time — never a figure you typed. Anonymous counters record that a calculation happened, not what it was.
